Pakistan and Egypt cooperation in health sector with focus on Hepatitis C
The recent agreement between the two countries on Hepatitis C elimination with Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal and the Egyptian Ambassador witnessed a high-level meeting for public health.
According to the Ministry of Health, discussions will be held on advancing this technical cooperation and plans for building up the health system of Pakistan.
Egyptian Experts Will Assist the Health Mission in Pakistan
Egyptians health experts will most likely be flying to Pakistan shortly to assist in this effort under the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Elimination Program.
Minister Kamal praised the great success of Egypt in eliminating Hepatitis C, saying their model must be the model for all in that battle.
Egypt Will Provide Training, Campaigns, and Technical Assistance
The Egyptian Ambassador thanked Pakistan for taking an interest in the Egyptian health model and confirmed full support in the areas of training programs, awareness campaigns, and technical assistance.
He also confirmed that a delegation of Egyptian health professionals would visit Pakistan shortly to kick-start joint action planning.
Minister Kamal thanked Egypt for the support, saying that Pakistan could gain enormously from their experience in public health.
A Regional Step Towards Health Diplomacy
This partnership comprises an important milestone for Pakistan in its fight against viral diseases, and at the same time underscores regional cooperation that could provide common solutions to shared health challenges.
