Bushra Bibi's Arrest Warrants Suspended in £190m Corruption Case

As ARY News reported, Rawalpindi court has suspended non-bailable arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi, the wife to Pakistan’s ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan. The suspension came during the hearing when both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had recorded their statements under section 342 of the code of criminal procedure which was a very important part of the £190 million corruption reference of Al Qadir University Trust.

Pakistan’s National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has accused Khan and his associates of embezzling £190m from the national treasury. The corruption reference accuses Khan and seven others, including Bushra Bibi, of converting funds received from Britain’s National Crime Agency. Imran Khan gave indications to call witnesses during the hearing and Bushra Bibi refused to call any witness making the legal battle more complicated.

Earlier, Islamabad High Court had summoned Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi and granted them bail against the safety bond of Rs1 million each. The accountability court under the leadership of Judge Nasir Javed Rana has moved the hearing to the 12th of December, leaving ample space for more legal debates related to the production of PTI founder and his wife in the courtroom.
