The enrolment of Pakistani students in educational institutions in the United States has reached its highest level, proving the factor of increasing educational relations between the two countries. On the same day of the EducationUSA High Achievers’ Ceremony, the US Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome disclosed that 11,000 Pakistani students got admission to US universities for the 2023-24, from a previous year’s figure of 10,000. These students are a generation that leaves a profound imprint on businesses, politics, and cultures globally.
Currently, Pakistan has been ranked number 16 in the world as per the State Department’s Open Doors Report on students in the United States. Services such as EducationUSA have been very instrumental in the support of Pakistani students through the provision of free counseling on universities, scholarships, and study preparations. Ambassador Blome also informed that the US Embassy has provided new programs with funding such as counsellors’ trips to US institutions to enhance awareness for Pakistani students.
This consists of educational exchange programs such as Fulbright and Humphrey in which the US spends $30 million every year and are still very popular among Pakistani scholars. Pakistan remains the largest sender of Fulbright scholars from around the world with students from different parts of the country. Ambassador Blome greeted the Pakistani graduates from the American universities emphasizing their impact on the international business, politics, and society.
