In the upcoming Pakistan versus Australia match in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023, there might be a change in Pakistan’s playing XI. It’s possible that leg-spinner Usama Mir could replace one of the fast bowlers in the team. This decision will depend on the condition of the pitch. The match is set to take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Usama Mir had fallen ill with a viral infection before the India match. But he has fully recovered now and even performed well in training. The Bangalore pitch is known for being good for batting and offering some help to spinners. So, if the pitch turns out to be typical for Bengaluru, Usama might be included in the team.
All the players, except Mohammad Haris, who had previously fallen ill, have now recuperated from the infection. Regarding Fakhar Zaman’s knee issue, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official mentioned that it’s not a serious problem and Fakhar was able to train and participate in other activities.

Currently, Pakistan is in the fourth position on the World Cup points table with four points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.137 after playing three matches. Pakistan had faced a tough loss to arch-rivals India in Ahmedabad, which affected their run rate.

The first stage of this 10-team tournament is a round-robin format where each team plays against the others once, making a total of 45 matches. The top four teams at the end of this stage will qualify for the semifinals. Pakistan will be hoping for a good performance against Australia to strengthen their position in the tournament.
