Alishba Barech Wins Global Award, Makes Pakistan Proud

Young Alishba Khan Barech of Pakistan received the award as the “Young Woman of the Year” at the Women Changing the World Awards 2025. The entry held in London took place from 2nd to 3rd April. Alishba is from Nushki, a district in Balochistan, and is Pakistan’s youngest self-published author.

She was one of 12 finalists from over 751 women across 50 different countries. After receiving the award, Alishba proudly pronounced that she idealizes her province and also her country.

Alishba is quite young; she started writing at an early age, wrote her first novel at the age of 11, published her memoirs at age 14, becoming a self-published author at age 16. Her books aim to show a face of Balochistan that is full of strength and hope and not just of conflict.

Apart from being a writer, Alishba is very actively doing social work. She has also worked with UNICEF Pakistan as a youth ambassador for mental health and polio awareness. Currently, she is a youth adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and is a member of the National Youth Council.

It is also about sports: Alishba supports and acts as a youth ambassador for the Quetta Gladiators cricket team. She is Balochistan’s first merit scholarship student at John Locke Summer University.

Story of Alishba is such a mixture of hard work, courage, and hope. She is now helping the world see a better face of Balochistan through her writing and social work, and she probably would inspire many young people in Pakistan and beyond.
