august 2025 visa bulletin eb 2, eb 3 delays for pakistan
Pakistani nationals applying for U.S. employment-based green cards may face further delays, as the August 2025 Visa Bulletin shows retrogression in the EB-2 category, and no forward movement in EB-3 for most applicants outside India.
If you’re a skilled worker, doctor, engineer, IT professional, or academic from Pakistan waiting on a green card — especially under EB-2 or EB-3 — this update is important.
EB-2 (Advanced Degree Professionals): Moved Backward
The EB-2 visa, commonly used by highly educated professionals, has retrogressed for Pakistan and other countries under the “Rest of World” classification.
- New final action date: September 1, 2023
- Previous: October 15, 2023
This means if your priority date is after September 1, 2023, you must wait longer to move forward in the process.
EB-3 (Skilled Workers): No Progress for Pakistan
The EB-3 category, which includes skilled workers and professionals with bachelor’s degrees, showed no movement for Pakistani applicants this month.
- Pakistan’s EB-3 cut-off remains: April 1, 2023
No changes for the Philippines, Vietnam, or other regional neighbors. India is the only country to see movement — advancing by one month to May 22, 2013.
Can You File Your Green Card in August?
According to USCIS , only applicants whose priority date is earlier than the posted final action date may submit their Form I-485 in August. If your date is not yet current, you’ll need to wait for future bulletins.
