However, due to the current state of affairs between Pakistan and India, the matches of Pakistan will take place at a neutral ground under a fusion model-against the backdrop of earlier refusal from India to play in Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy.

Row Concerning Contracts for Women Cricketers

With all the excitement gearing up for the qualifiers, much controversy has been stirred about the payments made to women cricketers playing in domestic tournaments. Allegations have arisen that the recent reports of the PCB setting the base payment for this group far below the minimum wage for unskilled laborers in the country, is, Rs37,000 a month.

The PCB recently entered into 90 contracts for the domestic season 2024-25 and included eighteen U-19 players, sixty-two emerging category players, and ten capped players. The PCB has assured that emerging and U-19 players will receive match fees, daily allowances, and money share; however, it has faced much criticism for not increasing the salaries to offset inflation.
