Sajid Sadpara Reaches Dhaulagiri Without Oxygen, Breaks Records

Sajid Ali Sadpara, a Pakistani mountaineer, has become the first climber in the world to successfully summit Nepal’s Dhaulagiri (8,167 meters) summit without the aid of supplemental oxygen or porters. This is the ninth 8,000-meter peak for Sajid that he has successfully summited under extreme conditions.

Sajid Ali’s expedition was supported by Seven Summit Treks Nepal and Sabroso Pakistan. Sajid and team carried out the last summit push and departed Camp IV on Friday, and reached the summit at 9:35 AM on Saturday morning. There was hope for good weather for those climbers aiming for Dhaulagiri’s summit. To summit Dhaulagiri, the team had to fix over 350 meters of rope in incredibly adverse weather conditions.

Congratulations to Sajid on becoming the first climber to summit Dhaulagiri in the Spring 2025 season. Sajid has five peaks remaining to complete the elite challenge of climbing all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter mountains without oxygen.

Sajid, the son of the late mountaineering star Muhammad Ali Sadpara, said he is following in his father’s footsteps. He said,

“Climbing is not just a profession. It is my inheritance. Every foothold I take in the mountains is a tribute to my father’s dream and the future of Pakistani climbers.”

Karrar Haidri, secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, commended Sajid’s spirit and tenacity, saying his success represents the adventurous spirit of the Pakistani people.
