Rawalpindi DC Notification: Chehlum Holiday Declared In Rawalpindi

Hazrat Imam Hussain Chehlum Procession is to be held today, Aug 26, 2024. For this reason, the district administration of Rawalpindi has announced a public holiday. All the government offices along with educational institutions both the public and private are to remain closed according to the official notification released yesterday. 

The notification states that the holiday would be applicable to all schools and colleges in the city especially the Cantonment area, City, Saddar and adjacent Rawalpindi district areas. Although this order is for all, emergency departments will be exempted from this order.

4400 police and 215 traffic police security officials have been called in to perform their duties today in the city of Rawalpindi. According to sources, the route of the procession site is blocked from Sunday night. Another important development is that the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education postponed the Class 10 Matriculation exam that was to be held today.
