Punjab Expands Honhaar Scholarship Program Nationwide, Increases Laptop Distribution

Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Chief Minister, has been adamant about making the Honhar Scholarships nationwide. The discussion, which took place during a meeting convened in Lahore on higher education, means that students enrolled in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can get the same benefits as those who are in Punjab as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

The program, for the first time, will include the High Schools Scholars who have ordered 110,000 laptops under the Punjab Laptop Scheme, and the minimum marks cut-off of 65%. The first batch of this program has also been given the formal approval of second, third, and fourth-year students in Punjab. She noted that laptops and scholarships are primary rights of students and announced that the Punjab government would pay fees for students who earn merit-based admission in elite colleges.

In addition, the annual allocations of Honhar Scholarships will increase, and 30,000 more scholarships are expected to go to high school scholars. The Chief Minister said that the first batch of quality devices have reached and she will distribute among the eligible children. This in turn shows her government is actively working towards bringing betterment into education in Pakistan.
