Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz established a huge housing project to provide homes for 500,000 impoverished families across the province within the next five-year period. CM Nawaz initiated the “Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar” program from a Lahore event as she described it as realizing her persistent objective to resolve homelessness throughout Punjab.

The Chief Minister emphasised her administration’s successes through housing 35,000 people throughout multiple cities in her statement. This contrasted with previous policies, which built less than 33,000 houses in rural zones.

The first phase of the program allocates 2,000 free three-marla residential plots to homeless families who qualify for this initiative. Through specified home building loans, recipients will access a complete system for becoming homeowners that serves Punjab’s most vulnerable population.

The project stands as one of the biggest public housing initiatives in provincial historical records as it aims to provide solutions to 500,000 families over the next 12 years.
