
Pakistan had a memorable day as the Gwadar International Airport which is said to be the largest in Pakistan by the size of the land acquired became operational with an inaugural flight. For the inauguration of the new facility, Pakistan International Airlines flight PK 503 from Karachi took one hour and ten minutes to reach the new facility and to reach passengers including high-ranking officials.
The airport has been constructed under the cumulative of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project, holds an area of 430 acres of land area, and contains a 3.5 km long A380-747 treatable runway. Located at a distance of 26 kilometers from Gwadar city, the Rs 50 billion facility was inaugurated in December 2024 after an initial ground breaking ceremony performed by then PM Shehbaz Sharif in October.
He congratulated the operationalization of Gwadar airport through which the government has planned to take the benefits of this project and turn Gwadar into a connection between Central and Eastern Asia, the Middle East, and the gulf countries. CPEC would add a positive value in other realms such as social, technical ability, and especially the energy of the province and in terms of economic relations with Pakistan and China, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif accentuated.
