In the cricket world, 2023 has come to an end, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has just unveiled its Men’s Test and One-day International (ODI) teams of the year. Surprisingly, no Pakistani player made it to either of the teams, marking a notable absence.
The ICC Team of the Year is a special acknowledgement for 11 exceptional players who showcased outstanding performances throughout 2023, be it with their all-round skills. Australia’s Pat Cummins emerged as the captain of the Test Team of the Year. Cummins led Australia to their first-ever World Test Championship (WTC) glory and took an impressive 42 wickets throughout the year. His teammate Mitchell Starc also found a place in the team for his remarkable performances with the red ball.
The Test Team of the Year featured a total of five Australian players, making them the most represented nation in the lineup. Meanwhile, the ODI Team of the Year was dominated by Indian players, which is not surprising given their exceptional cricketing prowess in the 50-over format.

Rohit Sharma, the skipper of the Indian cricket team, was named the captain of the ODI Team of the Year, thanks to his fantastic display, amassing a total of 1255 runs in the year. Other Indian players included in the team were Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mohammed Shami.
