Pakistani Film Nayab Nominated at SCO  Film Festival 2025

Nayab, a Pakistani film starring Yumna Zaidi, continues to receive international acclaim. Nayab is an uplifting story about a middle-class girl as she aspires to be a successful cricketer. Nayab has made it into the prestigious SCO Film Festival 2025, which was recently made official by director Umair Nasir Ali.

The festival will run from July 3rd – July 7th in Yongchuan District of Chongqing, and this will be the first SCO Film Festival held in China, since the inaugural festival occurred seven years ago in 2018. SCO Film Festival is part of a broader SCO summit featuring countries such as Pakistan, China, Russia, India, Iran, etc

The SCO Film Festival centers around media diplomacy, cultural exchange, and regional storytelling. With this year marking 130 years of cinema in the world and 120 years of cinema in China, films such as Nayab can promote common and meaningful understandings of equality, dialogue, art, learning, and more.

The festival is planned over five days with presentations, awards, forums, technology exhibitions, and concerts. The grand opening and closing ceremony will be at Yongchuan, China’s largest digital filming studio, and will highlight the latest advancements in film digitization and virtual shooting.

There will be a red carpet event on July 7, and ten film awards will follow, including Best Feature and Best Director. Ren Zhonglun, a distinguished jury president from the film industry, will direct the jury.

For this years festival, there will be a total of 27 films submitted from countries that are members of the SCO who will present their films in cinemas all across Chongqing and Yongchuan, which will explore the regional cinema from member countries of the SCO China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Iran, Pakistan, and Mongolia.
