Pakistani celebrities, channels head back to India after social ban

In April 2025, a horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, led to 26 tourists being killed. In retaliation, India launched a significant military operation dubbed “Operation Sindoor,” where it attacked terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. As a part of the response, India made the bold move of shutting down the Instagram accounts of Pakistani actors. There was government and industry support for this move as it came across as unfair for stars who had openly criticized India to continue profiting and gaining fans of Indian audiences.

Digital Ban Begins to Ease

As tensions have calmed and some Pakistani accounts are beginning to be unblocked in India. In the beginning Indian Instagram users are seeing the profiles of celebrities like Yumna Zaidi, Ahad Raza Mir and Danish Taimoor. Their reappearance has seen fans joyful – but not all have been returned yet. Heavyweights such as Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan and Hania Aamir, are still blocked!

YouTube Drama Channels Are Back Too

Popular Pakistani YouTube channels with dramas that were previously posted every day are now also back in India, alongside social media. Here is the list of the following channels:
