Depending on the situation, which will not be long coming, Pakistan is preparing for a large meeting of SCO members in October this year. Mumtaz Zahra Baloch of Pakistan’s Foreign Office informed this during a weekly briefing with media practitioners. SCO is an organization made up of various countries and they collaborate in one way, the other in various endeavors such as safety, business, culture, and the like. They comprise the countries of China, Russia, India, as well as Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Important Role

Currently, Pakistan is occupying the chairmanship of the SCO’s Council of Heads of Government. This has been regarded as a very important task in the SCO. For this reason, Pakistan becomes the host of the meeting of the government leaders from all the SCO countries.

Some of the specific questions that one may ask include; When is the meeting scheduled to take place and/or Where is the meeting supposed to be held?

The meeting will occur on the 15 and 16 of October this year. Yes, it will be in Pakistan but we are not sure about the specific area or city at the moment.

What Will Happen at the Meeting?

Before the big meeting in October, there will be smaller meetings. These will include talks between ministers and important officials from all the SCO countries. They will talk about money matters, business, social issues, and how to help each other.

Who Will Come to the Meeting?

Pakistan will invite the heads of government from all SCO countries. Ms. Baloch said they hope and expect everyone to come. This means the meeting will happen in person, not online.

Pakistan Rejects UN Report about Imran Khan

Other news is equally displeasing to Pakistan; a report by a United Nations group regarding Imran Khan, who was previously the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

What Structure Comprises the UN Report of Human Rights Abuse in the US? To be specific, regarding the physical violence issue, the report said that it was not fair to detain Imran Khan. It also indicated that this has been organized to prevent him or her from contesting in the election again. The UN group demanded Imran Khan must be released at once.

What is Imran Khan’s trouble footprint?

Imran Khan was ousted in 2022. People have since claimed that he has done many wrong things including engaging in the vice of corruption and making trouble.

While the Report focused on strategic democracy and the military operation, Pakistan’s response was regarding the attacks on the sovereignty of the country. Speaking with World & times, Ms. Baloch said the report was not good because it failed to grasp the correct laws of Pakistan. She said that Pakistan has provisions for how people can be protected and the justice system where courts work fairly and so on.

Pakistan’s Legal System

Ms. Baloch talked about how Pakistan’s laws work:

– Citizens of the country are protected by their constitution within the realms of their rights.

– Laws are also enforced independently by various courts of the country.

– As much as the public may suffer at the hands of others, there are measures that they can take with the law.

– Under the laws of Pakistan, the courts will ascertain whether or not a person was wrong.

Why This Matters

This story shows two important things:

1. Pakistan is assuming a big part in international meetings which might enhance its image.

2. Contrary to UN reports Pakistan does not mistreat its former leaders and there is confusion typically a case of mistaken identity.

Either of these problems could influence how other countries perceive and/or engage with Pakistan in the future.
