Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed 30 Memorandam of Understanding (MoUs) to facilitate the employment of skilled Pakistani people in different sectors across Saudi Arabia. It comes as Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reached Riyadh.

PM Sharif landed in the Saudi capital on Tuesday at the invitation of his counterpart HH Mohammad bin Salman to participate in the 8th edition of the Future Investment Initiative Conference, he noted in a post on X.

On this trip, the Prime Minister of Pakistan is going to reaffirm their common desire to further cement Pak-Ksa bilateral relations through robust and mutually beneficial partnerships in trade and investment, the post further read.

Leveraging available opportunities in Saudi labour market

Efforts have been put into mobilising vocational training centres in Pakistan to ensure that skilled people are trained according to the requirements of the Saudi labour market. The government is committed to taking steps to leverage available opportunities.

Earlier, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah introduced updated regulations for temporary employment visas. The change aims to enhance flexibility for the private sector and ensure visa policies cater to labour market needs.

Significant penalties are in place to deter misuse, including fines of up to 50,000 Saudi riyals for companies found selling temporary visas and potential bans from the annual Hajj and Umrah services for up to 5 years.
