Pakistan’s NADRA Upgrades Pak ID App with Digital ID Storage

NADRA, the country’s National Database and Registration Authority, has upscaled the Pak ID mobile application version 3.8.1 by adding digital ID storage and facial verification to smooth access and secure authentication.

The feature of face verification now from this date allows all older clients and persons whose fingers do not work well to verify their identity using the inbuilt camera of their mobile phones. Also, a national ID card can be stored as a digital replica on such devices, creating easier transactions needing authentication.

Pak ID App has made it simple for Kenyans to apply for national identity cards and family registration certificates by uploading the relevant documents online and submitting biometric data. The most recent version of the application also makes it easier to request ID modifications, meaning that these requests could often be made without any physical paperwork at all.

NADRA’s initiative is designed to meet the digital transformation goals of Pakistan and complements efforts to add financial inclusion and boost the digital economy in the country. As the use of mobile banking and digital payments continues to increase, Pakistan is also making steady advances in the adoption of digital financial services.

However, experts emphasize the completion of the financial architecture with strong policy and regulatory backup for full adoption. With a close look at the gender gap in financial inclusion, there is also much effort directed toward programs for increasing women’s accessibility to financial services.

Pakistan is now building an ecosystem of technology, and technology such as Pak ID fits beautifully under it to help create a future in which we can all be truly and equally connected.
