Pakistan and China signed a $4.8 billion nuclear power plant deal, the project Chashma 5 will help Pakistan make the transition away from reliance on fossil fuels. Prime Minister Shahbaz Shareef expressed thanks to the Chinese side for trusting Pakistan.
A 1200 mega-watt nuclear power plant will be built under this project. The work on the Chashma 5 project would begin immediately, Shahbaz Shareef said on state Television PTV.

He further said, “Investment from China in this project to the tune of $4.8 billion sends a message loud and clear that Pakistan is a place where Chinese companies and investors continue to show their trust and faith”.
Chashma Project Location
The Chashma Project 5 will be built in the central province of Punjab. China’s support will help Pakistan make the transition away from reliance on fossil fuels.
Two years back when the country opened its sixth nuclear power plant, the total nuclear energy production of Pakistan increased to 1400 mw. The 1100 mw plant was also constructed with Chinese assistance.
