About Eid Ul Adha

There are two main Eid festivals in Islam: Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Adha. Eid-ul-Fitr signifies the end of the holy month of Islam, and Eid-ul-Adha is the greater Eid, which is celebrated after the Hajj pilgrimage and also comprises the ritual of Qurbani (sacrifice). Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated on the tenth day of the twelfth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The celebration of Eid-Ul-Adha is to honour Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to Allah and his readiness to sacrifice his son Ismail. At the time of sacrifice, Allah replaced the Prophet’s son with a ram. Eid-ul-Adha is considered the festival of sacrifice and portrays obedience and faith. This Islamic festival is celebrated by the Muslims all around the world. Eid-ul-Adha celebrations last from two to four days, depending on the country.
