Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi reached Lahore on 23 April 2024 Tuesday morning as part of his official visit to Pakistan. This is Ebrahim Raisi’s second day in Pakistan. Ebrahim Raisi received a warm welcome from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at the Airport. To accommodate the Iranian President’s visit, the Punjab government declared a public holiday in Lahore, easing traffic congestion in the city.
President Raisi’s visit is significant as it’s the first by a foreign head of state since Pakistan’s new government came to power following the February 8 elections. The reason for Ebrahim Raisi’s visit in Lahore is the meetings with top Pakistani officials in Islamabad. Which include Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Army Chief Gen Asim Munir. ThemIn reason for his visit aims to strengthen ties between the two countries Pakistan and Iran.

During the visit of iran President Ebrahim Raisi Pakistan and Iran signed Eight agreements to promote cooperation in different fields. These agreements include areas like Trade, Science and Technology, Agriculture, Health, Culture and Judicial matters. The signing ceremony took place with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Ebrahim Raisi.

One very important agreement focused on the Establishment of the Rimdan-Hand Joint Free Special Zone. This main reason is to boost Economic Collaboration between Pakistan and Iran. There are other agreements as well which include cooperation on Animal health, Standards, Labor and Social welfare. This shows a huge scope of Partnership Between Pakistan and Iran.
