To become a minister in Pakistan in 2023, one must first become a member of parliament. This can be achieved by running for election and winning a seat in either the National Assembly or the Senate.
In order to be eligible to run for election, one must be a citizen of Pakistan, at least 25 years old, and mentally sound.
Additionally, candidates must meet certain educational and professional requirements depending on the position they are seeking.

For example, to run for a seat in the National Assembly, a candidate must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, whereas to run for a seat in the Senate, a candidate must have at least 12 years of education.
Furthermore, there are certain eligibility criteria based on religion and criminal history. To be a member of parliament in Pakistan, one must be a Muslim and must not have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude.
Once elected to parliament, a member can be appointed as a minister by the Prime Minister, who has the authority to select individuals to fill cabinet positions.
The Prime Minister may choose to appoint members of parliament or individuals outside of parliament who are deemed qualified for the position.
It is important to note that in order to maintain their position as a minister, the individual must retain the confidence of the Prime Minister and the majority of the National Assembly.
If the Prime Minister loses confidence in a minister or if the minister loses the support of the National Assembly, they may be removed from their position.
