According to reports, public holidays have been announced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi from October 14 to 16. According to the notification, the public holidays have been declared in connection with the 2 days SCO summit that is going to be on 15th and 16th Oct respectively.
Indian Foreign Minister Mr S Jaishankar is expected to be present along with other diplomats from other countries invited for the summit in the Pak capital. Besides the Indian delegation, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran and Tajikistan diplomats will be there with their respective delegations.
The meeting was attended by top officials of the government including the Federal Secretary Interior, Additional Secretaries, Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Inspector General of Police Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad, Section Commander Pakistan Rangers and representatives of the intelligence agencies.
While the meeting was going on, security arrangements of the SCO summit were reviewed in detail. The interior minister approved a comprehensive plan to ensure foolproof security during the summit. The minister has called it an honour for the entire nation. Special arrangements for beautification and cleanliness of the capital city will be made on the occasion of the SCO Conference.
Mohsin Naqvi said that in order to ensure foolproof security for the delegates and ministers, additional forces from the Pak army, Rangers, FC and Punjab Police are to be deployed. There will be utmost mutual cooperation for the successful conduct of the summit.
