Former Supreme Court Judge Sheikh Azmat Saeed Passes Away in Lahore

Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, a renowned retired Supreme Court judge of Pakistan, passed away after a long illness. The Lahore High Court on Thursday made the announcement that the funeral prayers for the esteemed jurist will be offered on Friday afternoon in Lahore’s Defense Housing Authority.

During his distinguished few decades-long career as a justice, Justice Saeed has remained a judge in the Supreme Court since 2012 and till the year he retired in 2019. His tenure in the nation’s highest court has seen some record judgments that have added greatly to the judicial records of Pakistan. Before his nomination to the Supreme Court, he was the much-respected Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, where he was known for being a stickler for justice and a master lawyer.

Lahore High Court has issued a statement that the funeral of Justice Saeed is to be held today at 3 PM. Prayer will be offered at Allahu Akbar Mosque, DHA Phase 1, Lahore.

Most of the lawyers and judges will visit to bid farewell to Justice Saeed. He was a good person who worked day and night his whole life to ensure justice prevailed in Pakistan. He ensured that laws were adhered to equitably and individuals were treated justly.

Justice Saeed was an extremely significant judge, and his passing leaves Pakistan with a loss of someone who truly knew the law well and had a strong sense of doing what was right. He has left many positive memories of how he assisted in making Pakistan’s courts more effective.
