Fire at The Gabba Halts Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes Clash in Big Bash League

The Big Bash League 2025 Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes in the 36th match at The Gabba was interrupted by fire near the DJ booth on Thursday, 16th January. This sad event happened in the course of the Hurricanes’ run chase, with Caleb Jewell and Mitchell Owen just getting settled in with a massive target in sight.

It began at the spot near the DJ and due to the ground staff and stewards, the situation was managed pretty fast. People in the stands were then cleared out in the vicinity of the fire incident. This was achieved by the use of fire extinguishers which were used to suppress the fire, to ensure it did not get out of hand. Thankfully, no one got killed or disabled, as well as, no major property was destroyed.

As people regained their confidence and proceeded to seek cover, the game was back on shortly, to the relief of fans and players. Jewell who was showing very good form remained active for the Hurricanes after the resumption as well. However, the sensational Gabba staged another delightful cracker in the big Bash League.
