emirates suspends check ins for connecting flights after dubai storm

Dubai recently faced heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.  Dubai’s main airline, Emirates, has put a pause on letting people check in for flights that have connections through Dubai. This comes after a big storm hit the United Arab Emirates earlier this week.

Emirates, which is a really big airline that flies all over the world, said they won’t let people check in for flights with connections until April 19th at 11:59 PM (GMT). But if you’re going straight to Dubai, you can still check in and fly like normal.

This pause in connections shows that Emirates and the big airport in Dubai are still having trouble getting back on track after the storm. The storm brought the heaviest rain the UAE has seen in 75 years. This is the biggest storm in the history of dubai. It caused a lot of problems, like flooding the airport’s taxiways.

Because of all this, lots of flights had to be changed or canceled, which affected thousands of passengers. The boss of Dubai Airports said they’re trying to get things back to normal as soon as possible. They hope to have the airport running like usual within a day, and they want to get back to having a full schedule of flights.

The streets in Dubai were left with cars and buses abandoned because of the floods. Even days after the storm, some cars were still stuck in water. In Abu Dhabi, which is another city in the UAE, some shops and restaurants had problems because they couldn’t get deliveries from Dubai.
