Trailer release of Pakistani horror film “Deemak“. Know the release date in theatres
The horror genre once again has a stronghold on Pakistani cinema with “Deemak,” a supernatural psychological thriller that’s set to release in theaters for Eid ul Adha (June 6). Directed by Rafay Rashdi (Badshah Begum) and written by Ayesha Muzaffar (Jinnistan), the film presents a sinister story that comes from Pakistani folklore and is based on true events.
A Tale of Family and the Supernatural
The already tense relationship between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law suddenly takes a ghastly turn when the house becomes victimized by paranormal disturbances. Just as they are haunted by increasingly bizarre happenings, the two women engage in psychological warfare, leaving the son hanging between the two women he loves the most.
Star-Studded Cast & High Production Values
Weaving together past folklore with modern ideas, “Deemak” ushers in the performance of perhaps the finest of Pakistan: Faysal Quraishi, Sonya Hussyn, Samina Peerzada, Javed Sheikh, and Bushra Ansari. The film aims high in its production values and storytelling for horror in Pakistan.
A Passion Project for the Filmmakers
Long-time horror lover Syed Murad Ali, the executive producer of “Deemak”, considers this film a giant leap for the advancement of Pakistan’s film industry. On his part, director Rafay Rashdi believes that “Deemak” is the result of years of experimenting with the horror genre.
“We wanted to tell a story that was not just scary but emotionally heavy,” Rashdi explains. “The mix of psychological tension and supernatural horror makes ‘Deemak’ a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience.”

Reviving Horror in Pakistani Cinema
Pakistan’s horror heritage juggles from cult classics like “Zinda Laash” (1967) to modern experimental fare such as “In Flames” (2023), screened at Cannes. “Deemak”, its first banner horror movie, will further these developments, one steeped in Pakistani culture with a global outreach.
With the distribution handled by Mandviwalla Entertainment and Geo Films as the media partner, “Deemak” indeed promises an exhilarating experience on Eid ul Adha.
