Australia’s skipper, Pat Cummins, expressed the global appeal of this event, comparing it to the excitement generated when India played Pakistan in a World Cup.

India, the champions of the 2011 World Cup held in the sub-continent, enters the tournament fresh off their victory in the Asia Cup With  batsman Virat Kohli in their ranks.

In this year’s World Cup all 10 teams will play against each other once, with the top four progressing to the semi-finals. The final match is scheduled for November 19 in Ahmedabad, at the Narendra Modi Stadium the world’s largest cricket stadium which has a seating capacity of 132,000.
