Buttler Won’t Join GT for IPL 2025 Eliminator vs Mumbai

England’s Jos Buttler is unable to play in Friday’s eliminator for Gujarat Titans because he has to commit to England’s team for international duties. Jonny Bairstow has opted not to join the squad in the UAE for their next match, but will be playing in the West Indies ODI games. The decision was made after lots of foreign players left India after the league stage to meet their previous commitments abroad.

Going without Buttler causes a sizable problem for the Gujarat Titans, given how well he played in the tournament. The highlight of his games was the 538 runs he managed across 13 innings. Kusal Mendis is set to take Buttler’s spot in the coming eliminator as he remains the choice of the Gujarat Titans for the match. The team will field without regular fast bowler Kagiso Rabada, but they did not opt for a stand-in.Cricketers Jacob Bethell and Will Jacks from England have chosen to focus on international duty instead of the IPL playoffs. The Mumbai Indians chose Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson and Charith Asalanka as the players to replace Rashid, Dhawan and Capaldi. On June 1, the first qualifier’s loser meets the winner of the eliminator, with the loser heading home after their defeat. The IPL 2025 final will take place on June 3.
