Asim Azhar to sing PSL-8 anthem

After a long wait, sources confirmed that Asim Azhar, Shae Gill, and Faris Shafi will sing the anthem of PSL-8. The song is written and composed by young talented singer Abdullah Qureshi. Abdullah Qureshi will be making PSL anthem for a second consecutive year. Last year’s “Agey Dekh” was also written by him and sung by Atif Aslam and Aima Baig.

The official account of PSL on twitter confirmed that Asim Azhar and Shae Gill are in the house for singing the anthem while Faris Shafi will give the rap touch to the song. Before the selection of these singers, Pasoori team including Ali Sethi, son of PCB Chairman Najam Sethi was on board for composing and performing the PSL-8 anthem.

Pasoori team out of the contract

Najam Sethi, a two time PCB chairman decided to cancel the contract to avoid any kind of conflict and favoritism. In the press conference he told media that I am disappointed that Ali won’t be able to sing PSL anthem, and he is also sad about this but this is the best way. He added that Ali will surely sing the anthem but when I am not here. You all need to understand my position as I don’t want to be involved in any kind of controversy.

Ali Sethi along with Shae Gill got a lot of appreciation from world after their coke studio song Pasoori. The pasoori team was hired under the tenure of former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja. But Najam Sethi on appointment canceled the contract.

Fans are excited to watch PSL opening ceremony that will be held in Multan. PSL 8 will be played between February 13th to March 19th in Karachi, Multan, Lahore and Rawalpindi. The sources told that Rawalpindi will hold 11 matches while Karachi and Multan are going to host 14 matches. The final will be played in iconic Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
