“Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” – a free housing scheme launched by Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz

Free Housing Scheme 

On 21st August 2024, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had launched a new free housing scheme “Apna Chhat, Apna Ghar” (Our roof, Our House) for the betterment of people who are homeless. This free housing scheme helps to give free loans for 1.5 million people who belong to the urban and rural areas. During the launch of this scheme she had told,

“We must ask the people about the value of home who does not have it. It is a dream of many people. There’s no place like home. Those who have their own home, their own roof, they don’t understand what it is like to be homeless”

Under this scheme the landowners need not pay any amount for the first three months. The monthly instalment to be paid for the loan of 15 lakhs is Rs.14,000 if the loan amount is lesser than that the monthly instalment would be lesser. After careful consideration of the commitments in a family like fees for children’s education, food and medicine, they had drafted this amount. She had given the assurance that her government would not get a single rupee after paying Rs.14000 monthly. They have instructed the eligible candidates to apply for the scheme through the online portal PITB, also they have given a number 08009100 to call and get to know about the eligibility process of the loan.
