Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed as the new T20I captain by the Pakistan Cricket Board and Sahibzada Farhan Pakistan captain will lead the side in the upcoming three-match series against Sri Lanka. Farhan replaces Salman Ali Agha, who has been axed from the T20I captaincy and also omitted from the T20I squad for the upcoming series.

Farhan takes the role after a strong run in Pakistan’s T20 cricket, including ending as the leading run-scorer at the 2026 T20 World Cup. His appointment provides Pakistan with a new leadership option as the national side prepares for another big international campaign.

Salman Ali Agha Remains In Pakistan ODI Plans

Salman Ali Agha has lost the T20I captaincy but is still in Pakistan’s white-ball cricket setup via the ODI setup. Shaheen Shah Afridi to continue as Pakistan’s ODI captain for the upcoming tri-nation series against England and Sri Lanka

The separate leadership arrangements mean Pakistan have different captaincy structures for the two formats. This allows Farhan to focus on the needs of T20 cricket while the ODI team remains under the leadership of Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Pakistan To Start Sri Lanka Series On October 9

Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series starting at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 9. It will be Farhan’s first time leading Pakistan on the international stage and putting his own stamp on the shortest format.

The ODI tri-series will begin on October 18, and the final will be played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on October 31. The two competitions provide Pakistan an opportunity to experiment with leadership options and combinations in the squad before the next phase of the international calendar.
