The Kuwait Pakistan defence agreement marks a significant step in the long-standing relationship between the two countries, strengthening military cooperation, strategic coordination, and bilateral defence ties. The agreement was first signed in Kuwait on June 11, 2023, and has now been formally approved by Decree-Law No. 73/2026, published in Kuwait’s official gazette, Kuwait Al-Youm. The move offers a more robust legal and institutional basis for the bilateral defence framework.
Kuwait Ratifies Defence Cooperation Pact With Pakistan

A joint military committee will be an important mechanism for implementing the agreement. The committee will be composed of representatives from both countries, and the defence ministers will appoint its co-chairs.
The committee is expected to meet once a year on a rotational basis in Kuwait and Pakistan. This setup offers a regular forum to review progress and set future priorities.
Information Security Gets Robust Protection
The agreement contains detailed provisions on confidential information. Both countries are to protect exchanged documents, materials and information and restrict access to authorised personnel.

The agreement provides that disputes concerning the interpretation or implementation of the agreement shall be settled through negotiations and consultations between representatives of the two countries.
Long-Term Framework Period Of 5 Years
The agreement shall have an initial term of five years and shall be automatically renewed for successive terms of the same duration unless either party provides notice of termination six months in advance.
