Step Back to Injury
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Arshad said, “I felt a strain in my calf while training. Therefore, I have decided not to compete in Switzerland. It is my responsibility to care for my health for the long term.”Next Focus is the World Championships in Tokyo
Arshad was very clear that it is the World Championships that he is preparing for in September in Tokyo.”I’m flying to London on July 14 to prepare for the World Championships with better conditions,” he said. His Reason for Training Abroad
Elaborating on why he decided to train in England, Arshad said, “The summer heat and rain in Pakistan is extreme and bad for training. It puts you at risk of injury, and that is what happened to my calf.”He continued saying, “England has nice weather and better recovery options, and that’s what I’m after, recovery, and then preparing myself for larger events. Coach Joins for the Last Word
Arshad’s coach Salman Iqbal Butt will also travel with him during that time. The priority will be top-quality training and recovery. After returning from training in London, he has the Diamond League in Poland on August 16.”I am optimistic that the training in England will have an impact on my performance in the Diamond League and World Championship,” he said.
