The football world is devastated by the Diogo Jota death, as the Liverpool forward, who also represented Portugal, died in a terrible car crash in western Spain. The 28-year-old Diogo Jota was along with his younger brother, Anderson Silva, aged 25 months, when they lost control of their car along the road of Zamora early in the morning hours of Thursday. Both of the brothers were announced dead on the spot by Spanish authorities.
The Spanish Civil Guard men who confirmed the incident showed that there were no other vehicles involved. The car is said to have caught fire after it got out of the road thus becoming more devastating. The investigation on the cause is going on.

The loss of Diogo Jota has marred the Liverpool FC whose statement signed by the chairman protested the loss as heartbreaking. According to the club, they are devastated and will give their full support to Jota family, friends, and teammates during this impossible time.
Jota only married his long time partner, Rute Cardoso late few weeks prior to the accident and they had three children. The community of Liverpool must have been in shock after his untimely death, not only his family.
Diogo Jota made his professional debut in the Portuguese club Paacos de Ferreira where his tactical impressiveness and forward keenness did not pass unnoticed. He subsequently signed on to FC Porto before making a switch to Atlético de Madrid, where he was loaned out to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Perhaps, better known as the arena where Jota really became a talent in the Premier League. Later, in 2020, he joined Liverpool and played 182 matches and scored vital goals in five seasons. Jota played a key role in the Liverpool title success in the Premier League, FA Cup, and two Carabao cups.
At the international level, Diogo Jota received 49 caps playing with the Portugal national team and he scored 14 goals. He was instrumental in making Portugal win the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and once more in 2025.
