pakistan 2 0 indonesia in afc asian cup qualification
Pakistan’s Women’s Football Team Shines with 2-0 Win Over Indonesia
Pakistan’s women’s football team made history by beating Indonesia 2-0 in their second group match of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers in Australia. After the opening game loss to Chinese Taipei by 8 goals without any reply, the win rejuvenated the squad, bringing new energy and hope.
The first goal came from Nadia Khan by an acute angle shot fired from the right side and was delivered in the 8th minute of the game. Just eleven (11) minutes later, Suha Hirani won a penalty and made no mistake with the shot to give Pakistan a 2-0 lead. Despite Indonesia’s attempts to claw back into the game, which included changes from coach Satoru Mochizuki, the Pakistan defence held firm against their fast-paced attacks and stayed ahead to seal the match. The Pakistan Football Federation termed the win as a “milestone in women’s football,” especially given that trusted rival Indonesia is ranked 95th in the world.
Pakistan is in Group D with Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyzstan, and Indonesia and will play their final group match against Kyrgyzstan on July 5 (Saturday), which they need to win to progress further in the tournament.
