no new currency notes expected for eid ul fitr 2025
According to ARY News, Pakistani residents will probably have to use worn currency notes for their customary Eid-ul-Fitr gifts because the State Bank of Pakistan will not release new notes in 2025. As during the COVID-19 pandemic years the State Bank of Pakistan carries on with its current policy.
The custom of giving new bank notes to people before the religious holiday continues to be canceled despite the central bank not announcing this change. Based on this new policy families must choose between using pre-circulated money for Eid activities or buying runs from dealers who sell fresh banknotes on the black market at higher rates. The Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts that Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 will be celebrated on Monday, March 31 due to the completion of Ramadan. The official date for the Eid-ul-Fitr celebration will depend on moon sighting results approved by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee as per Islamic custom.
