Pakistan Army Successfully Rescues Hostages After Jaffar Express Terrorist Attack
Islamabad: Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), addressed a press conference after the terrorist attack on Jaffar Express to disseminate comprehensive information regarding the incident, security operations, and disinformation campaigns related to the attack.
Some Details of the Attack
The attack was carried out in a very remote area where communication and access were impossible. The terrorists blew up the railway track, opened fire on the train, and took dozens of passengers hostage, among whom were women and children. They even had suicide bombers in the vicinity, using hostages as a human shield.
BLA’s Involvement and Threats
The banned militant outfit, Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), claimed the attack. They issued a warning that they would start executing hostages if Baloch political prisoners, activists, and missing persons were not released within 48 hours.
Pakistan Army’s Swift Action
A coordinated operation was launched by security forces, including the Pakistan Army, Special Services Group (SSG), Pakistan Air Force (PAF), and Frontier Corps (FC), to neutralize the terrorists and rescue the hostages.
All 33 terrorists were killed in the course of the operation.
Passengers’ safety was not compromised during the clearance operation.
However, 21 innocent passengers had already been martyred before the operation could even begin.
Operation Success and National Security
The DG ISPR appreciated that Pakistan’s security forces remain prepared against such threats. He acknowledged the snipers and commandos for their incredible work in terminating the suicide bombers and, in doing so, saved further loss of innocent lives.
This operation demonstrates the resilience and commitment of the armed forces of Pakistan in fighting against terrorism and national security.
