The Grammy Awards ceremony came into existence and these awards were one of the historic awards won by Beyoncé. She was applauded as the possible first lone Black woman to take home the Album of the Year prize for ‘Cowboy Carter’. The win gives her a total of 35 Grammy awards, making her even the most-awarded artist in Grammy history.
The evening could be deemed particularly important, as Beyoncé also won Best Country Album for the release that showed her branching into a genre that appeared rather reluctant to embrace her. Thus, beside her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, she made an inspiring speech about division of music into genres and genres. It triumphed over strong contenders other albums by Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter; the album was nominated 11 times which puts it in par with Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller.’
