Former president Donald Trump released a Trump coin, that is, a Trump meme coin built on Solana. Shared on Truth Social and X (ex Twitter), the Trump coin was a $8 billion company within the first two hours only. For the Moscow-based company that launched it, trading volume reached almost $1 billion, while the token price was $8.5 at the starting.
The Trump meme coin created quite a stir when there were doubts over its legitimacy. Blockchain engineer Cygaar mentioned, that the website of the Trump coin looks a lot like Trump’s previous NFT project that made people assume foul play. On the other hand, there was activity in Trump’s Truth Social account wherein it featured unrelated content such as the appointment of Peggy Schwinn as U.S. Deputy Secretary of Education.
Still, the Trump meme coin was confirmed by Jupiter Exchange which made some of the concerns disappear. The project states that it is inspired by Trump’s slogan following the survival of a 2024 assassination attempt. In total supply, 1 billion tokens were created while 200 million tokens were launched to the market. There continues to be so much hustle and buzz around the Trump coin as it remains a rather remarkable albeit quite polarizing addition to the world of crypto.
