Pakistan Celebrates Quaid-e-Azam's 148th Birth Anniversary with National Fervor

Pakistan celebrated 148th birth anniversary of its founder Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on December 25 with beautiful celebrations across the country and through official ceremonies. The day started with a historic change of guard ceremony at the Quaid’s grave in Karachi besides 21-gun salute in all provincial capitals.

This year, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also joined the nation to pay homage to the father of the nation. In his message, the President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari stressed on the need of carrying forward the policy of Jinnah through peaceful and moderate Pakistan and stressed for inter and intra-fregmented and cross-border harmony. Prime Minister Sharif emphasized Quaid’s visionary skills and iron will; Quaid was a leader, Sharif said, of genius and great faith in the destiny of Pakistan as a united, just, and equal society.

Several programmes such as exhibitions, conferences and cultural shows are being organized throughout the country to pay tribute to Quaid’s life and his accomplishments. The celebrations are meant to re-emphasise his vision of Pakistan as a democratic and moderate country where people of different faith and colour enjoy their rights as citizens of the country. The most important gesture of respect was the raising of the national flag in the key state and non-state facilities.
