The United States (US) will vote on November 5. That is, today is Election Day to elect its next President and the election results will be counted as soon as the polling closes in the states.  The last votes will be cast on today before the polls shut.

As the official voting day begins the polling hours may vary by states, the average voting hours are from 6am to 8pm. In swing states voting typically ends between 7 and 11 pm EST. The seven states are Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

Exit polls will begin appearing on news networks after 5 p.m. EST on November 5. The ballots are likely to be counted shortly afterward. Results are expected to come as soon as polls close at local time in each state.

For battleground states, the counting of ballots is expected to start at 7 p.m. EST on November 5.

According to the Associated Press more than 77 million people have already voted early to elect their next president.

No one knows how long it will take to declare the final winner this time. A winner could be approved on election night, the following morning, or after days or weeks.

One of the most pressing problems is over the timing of the US Presidential Election Results.

Election Day in the United States is now commonly referred to as ‘election week’ because of the fact that each state has its own procedures and customs for counting ballots. Some may even face legal challenges which cause delays in the outcome.

Several US-based news channels and their social media accounts will provide live coverage of the US election results with updates being posted all night long.
