The sons asked their father, Munir Ahmed, to return to their hamlet and drive a vehicle to the remaining section of the hilly track, where they would haul the product in the meantime. This was after the family had gathered a sizable cache of firewood.

Both parents departed for home, and the father did not find his sons waiting for him when he arrived back in a jeep at about five o’clock in the afternoon. He was shocked when he discovered the pair had been killed by a leopard when he proceeded deeper into the woods in pursuit of them, according to Mr. Ayoub.
