Addressing the National Education Emergency
In a bold move to address Pakistan’s national education emergency, PM Shehbaz Sharif has announced the formation of a dynamic 19- member Education Task Force. Composed of key Ministers and influential representatives from both national and international organizations, this task force dismantled barriers to literacy and ensured quality education for all, especially underprivileged children.

Personally chaired by the Prime Minister, this task force highlights the government’s pledge to education. The Minister of Education and Vocational Training , Minister of IT and Telecom and Minister of Information and Broadcasting are the key members of this task force. The Federal Secretary will serve as the facilitator of the task force, with provincial secretaries and education ministers also included in its ranks. Remarkably, the country head of the World Bank will act as the convener, underscoring the international support for this cause.

Notable local members include Amjad Saqib, Chairman of the Pakistan Education Endowment Fund; Shakeel Durrani, CEO of GIK Institute; Farid Panjwani of Agha Khan University; Syed Asad Ayub of the Citizen Foundation; Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor of LUMS; Dr. Faisal Bari, Dean of LUMS School of Education; and Javed Malik, Country Director of the Malala Fund.
Mission and Mandate
The Education Task Force has been entrusted with several crucial missions. Their primary mandate is to make ad hoc recommendations for educational projects, focused on improving the education system and removing obstacles to achieving literacy targets.
