PDM Responsible If Country Goes Into Total Lockdown
Prime Minister Imran Khan has warned that the country will have no option but to go into complete lockdown if the Pakistan Democratic Movement holds rallies across the country.
Taking to Twitter, the prime minister blamed the PDM for “deliberately endangering lives and livelihoods” by holding jalsas across the country with coronavirus cases in Pakistan on the rise.
“If [coronavirus] cases continue to rise at the rate we are seeing, we will be compelled to go into complete lockdown and the PDM will be responsible for [the] consequences,” he tweeted.
Pakistan’s second Covid-19 spike data is of concern: Increase in Covid patients on ventilators in the last 15 days: Peshawar 200pc, Multan 200pc, Karachi 148pc, Lahore 114pc, Islamabad 65pc. Multan & Isb Covid ventilators capacity utilisation 70pc.
Across the world, there is a second spike and complete lockdowns in most countries. In Pakistan, the PDM by continuing with jalsas is deliberately endangering lives & livelihoods because if cases continue to rise at the rate we are seeing, we will be compelled to go into complete lockdown & PDM will be responsible for consequences, PM Khan added.
He further added that opposition is callously destroying people”s lives & livelihoods in their desperation to get an NRO. “Let me make it clear: they can hold a million jalsas but will not get any NRO,” the Premier said.
I do not want to take measures like a lockdown that will start hurting our economy which at the moment is showing signs of a robust recovery.
Unfortunately, the opposition’s only goal is NRO at whatever cost to the lives of people and the country’s economy, he added further.
The number of positive Covid-19 cases has risen exponentially over the last two months. The country is currently going through the second wave of Covid-19 infections that is similar to the first phase and the government has said it will have no option but to shut down the country.
