Chief of Army visited an ongoing defence exhibition in Karachi a day ago, where he also had meaningful interactions with foreign military officials and defence delegates present at the event.
Also, addressing the business community in Karachi on Wednesday, General Munir said that ‘nothing, including politics, is more important than the country’, stressing that the public should ‘prioritise Pakistan over their personal interests’.
‘Remember, we have no identity outside Pakistan,’ he said, noting that the state was like a mother and “its value should be asked of the people of Libya, Iraq and Palestine,” COAS Munir said.
Pointing to last year’s discussions about the risk of Pakistan’s economy failing – concerns that the PTI had also raised in 2022 – General Munir asked: ‘Where are the people today who sowed disappointment and talked about the country failing? Shouldn’t they be held accountable?”
General Munir also urged overseas Pakistanis to bring economic stability to the country through bailout, saying, ‘Bring your investments to Pakistan so that the people earn and the nation becomes prosperous.’
Touching upon the issue of terrorism, the Army Chief remarked, ‘Terrorism is supported by those who are involved in illegal business and are supported by specific elements.
Again alluding to his concerns about ‘digital terrorism’, COAS Munir said: ‘The protection of the country’s digital borders and the digital security of its citizens are the responsibility of the State.
Previously, General Munir had warned that social media was being exploited to spread lawlessness and false information targeting the armed forces, while the term ‘ digital terrorism ’ has been used to describe the actions of online critics accused of spreading falsehoods.
