In a heartfelt meeting, Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar expressed condolences to Kuwait’s new Emir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, following the passing of the former Emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, aged 86. The cause of his death is unknown 

Prime Minister Kakar conveyed sympathy on behalf of the leadership, government, and people of Pakistan, expressing the unity of the Pakistani nation with their Kuwaiti brothers during this time of sorrow. 

The prime minister said that Sheikh Nawaf was a great leader who helped make Kuwait a rich and successful country. He also mentioned how the late Emir had a positive impact on the relationship between Pakistan and Kuwait,   Both countries are good friends .In the meeting, the new Emir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad, thanked Pakistan for being supportive and standing together in tough times. He promised to make the friendship between Pakistan and Kuwait even stronger.

After Sheikh Nawaf passed away, there was a private funeral where he was buried with the Kuwaiti flag, and the ceremony was shown on TV.

Kuwait announced a 40-day mourning period and a three-day closure of official departments. In solidarity, Pakistan also declared a day of mourning on Monday.

The meeting between Prime Minister Kakar and Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad shows the  respect between Pakistan and Kuwait, which shows the strong bonds between the two nations.
