The UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan began a major working visit to Egypt today with the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi receiving him on arrival at the Cairo International Airport. The visit reemphasizes the ongoing efforts to increase collaboration between the two countries.

The relations between the UAE and Egypt can be characterized by the brotherly relations that existed far beyond the diplomatic level. This relationship has developed through mutual respect and common values, which only improved over time as the two Arab states supported one another. It is worth noting that both Presidents have a friendly relationship, and that fact contributed a lot to the development of these relations.

This is a very important visit and therefore His Highness is accompanied by a distinguished delegation. These are H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the Deputy to the Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan as the Adviser to the Presidential Court for Special Affairs. The delegation also includes several ministers and high-ranking officials: Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security, and Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber – Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology.

Concern with the Bilateral Relations

Speaking of this visit, President El-Sisi also pointed to a focus of the two countries on the further development of multifaceted cooperation. The top-tier discussions are believed to touch on numerous fields of common concern between the two countries, as both Presidents do not seem limited to the extension of the two nations’ cooperation.

Key Officials Present

Other members of the UAE delegation are Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment, and Mohamed Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Defence Affairs. Other attendees include Dr Ahmed Mubarak Ali Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the President’s Office for Strategic Affairs, and Mariam Khalifa Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt to cover all the sectors.

Expected Outcomes

Such a working visit is expected to produce genuine dialogue and business that would foster the existing strategic partnership between the UAE and Egypt. Both states are interested in developing the existing relationship and expanding the practice of cooperation to new spheres that would be in the interest of the people of the two countries.
