Pakistani cueists Asjad Iqbal and Awais Muneer have advanced to the quarter finals of IBSF Mongolia World Cup Men 2024 as they continue their dominance in this snooker / billiards tournament.
In the round of 16, Asjad staged a remarkable comeback from losing the first frame by 08-89 to Chang Yu Kiu of Hong Kong but defeated him 4-1 later overall during the course of the match. Iqbal rallied to win the next four frames with scores of 74-62(62), 71-12, 57-46, and 71(68)-24.
Muneer was observed dropping the third frame by 17-65 but made a recovery in the 4th, 5th and the final 6th deciding round. He scored 88-42, 85(79)-05, and 66-34 respectively over the Hong Kong player.
The tournament’s quarter finals are scheduled to be held tomorrow from 10 am local time. The Pakistani Iqbal-Muneer duo are going to face Gao Yang of China and Ali Garahgozlou of Iran respectively in the snooker matches.
On Sunday, the Pakistani cueists secured 3 back to back victories in 3 matches and advanced to the round of 16. Awais defeated Iran‘s Siyavosh Mozayani with a scoreline of 3-1 with each round scores of 9-63, 78-34, 59-50, and 73-13 while Asjad snatched victory from the hands of Qatar’s Ali Alobaidili with frame score sets of 59-36, 26-63, 58-19, and 70-58. Both the Pakistani players have finished at the top of the tables in the group stage matches and have qualified for the quarter finals.
