Punjab CM election: Imran asks supporters to stage 'peaceful protests'

Parvez Elahi’s unexpected defeat to Hamza Shehbaz

Imran Khan, the former prime minister and leader of the PTI, urged his followers on Friday to protest tonight. He also said that in light of Parvez Elahi’s unexpected defeat to Hamza Shehbaz in the Punjab CM election, he now expects the Supreme Court to play a role.

Total dropped from 186 to 176

“I am shocked at what happened in the Punjab Assembly,” he stated in reference to Dost Mohammad Mazari’s decision to not count PML-Q votes, which resulted in a surprise loss for PTI-backed Parvez EIahi, whose vote total dropped from 186 to 176.

“Asif Zardari arrived in Lahore last night. He had to play a game; that much was certain. He has destroyed the nation for thirty years. He uses illicit funds to purchase democracy. “

Imran claimed that these events mirrored those that purportedly took place before he was removed from power.

Asif Zardari was the largest offender and biggest thief

He referred to him losing his party’s MNAs before the vote of no-confidence in March by saying, “This circus that we are watching, it first happened in the Sindh House. A mandi was established. Our kids were witnessing it. Nowadays, social media is accessible to all kids. The price of public officials’ and MPs’ consciences was determined in a market that had been set up. Similar to how lawmakers were sold, goats and sheep are sold in a similar manner. Even then, Asif Zardari was the largest offender and biggest thief. He is currently imprisoned and still in power in Sindh. He joined an imported conspiracy after becoming a member.”

“Today, I’m telling the country. You must engage in nonviolent protest. Nothing will happen unless you take that action. Declare your opposition. You must demonstrate that we are people and not sheep. Today, register your protest to let them know Pakistan’s people are still alive. Inform them that you won’t allow these thieves to take the public’s mandate.”
